Group Tecnatom finished successfully the UT inspection of the Low Pressure Rotor#2 discs, included in the 1P24 outage scheduled activities.
Despite it is an inspection performed by Tecnatom in Angra since the 90’s, this time was especially challenging because of the new geometries of the three central discs, replaced some years ago and never inspected before. New wedges were designed and manufactured for this activity and a new inspection plan was developed ad hoc.
During the inspection performance, some unexpected geometries non included in the drawings provided by the turbine manufacturer were detected, making more difficult the acquisition and analysis, but they were finally identified and the inspection concluded within the timeframe scheduled by the Customer.
The participation of Tecnatom do Brasil in this service includes coordination, logistics, inspection equipment (rented to Tecnatom) and inspection team (UT Level 3 inspector, UT level 2 inspector and one maintenance tecnician).
Within the present contract there is still one rotor inspection remaining in Angra 2 NPP scheduled for March 2019 and this increasing participation of TEdB in the activity is part of the Group localization strategy.
