On the last October 17th Tecnatom do Brasil has delivered to Eletronuclear the first three nuclear class butterfly valves to be installed in their Angra 1 NPP service water system. Just in time for the 1P24 outage.
These valves are part of a package of 12 valves contracted by Eletronuclear to Tecnatom do Brasil back in 2017 under a public bidding. They require a N-stamp giving by ASME under a qualification of the manufacturer and a follow up by the ASME inspector along the fabrication process.
Valves have been manufactured by Ringo Valves in Spain and purchased by Tecnatom do Brasil through Tecnatom Spain.
One of the main challenges of this project was the fact that Eletronuclear has demanded the manual actuators to be nuclear class, that made Tecnatom to work on a dedication process to use as nuclear of comercial grade actuators provided by Rotork.
The other 9 valves will be ready for shipment to Brazil by January 2019.
